What's so great about Renter's Insurance?

Did you know that most people think they don't need Renter's Insurance? They figure, what's the worst thing that could happen? Let me tell you, there are a lot of things that could go wrong. You're thinking, "Renter's insurance is too expensive, I can't afford it.", well you'd be wrong. Renter's insurance is affordable, easy to get and will bring you peace of mind. There are so many things that can make your life easier by getting renter's insurance.  There are a lot of companies (Progressive, Lemonade, Farmers, Allstate, etc.) out there that can help you get the best policy for you. I bet you think, "Well the Landlord has insurance what do I need it for?" and I'm here to tell you. Renter's insurance covers so much more than clothes, electronics and jewelry. Your Landlord's insurance only covers the physical building and things that happen in common areas. This means that if your neighbor decides to make at home water park and now it's raining in your apartment, your Landlord doesn't cover that. Now your new Harry Potter box set is ruined and so is your friendship with said neighbor. Don't fret you got renter's insurance and now they'll pay for you to get it replaced. There are some things to look out when making your policy like do you want the company to reimburse the actual cash value or the replacement cost? This means that if your bike got stolen that originally cost $400 then if your choose actual cash you'd only get compensated for that bike where as if you pick replacement cost they would give you what it would be to get another bike of the same value as what you paid. What if for some reason you can't reside in your apartment? The company would help you pay for lodgings and food if needed. If your refrigerator quits it can cover the cost of new groceries. What if your precious baby dog angel bites someone? Renter's insurance can help you with costs (legal, medical, etc.)should you be sued. Yes, there is usually a deductible associated with your policy, but when shopping around, you can set the amount you are able to cover out of pocket. Renter's insurance also covers items in your car or when you travel and the airlines lose your luggage or someone steals it. Renter's insurance can range from around $15-30 a month or less which is so worth it considering you have that amazing Pokémon card collection that needs protecting. Most insurance companies also offer bundle deals where you can put your auto insurance with you renter's insurance and save money. Don't wait until something bad happens, be smart and be prepared. You won't regret it!
